My brother and I are building a rather large RC boat. 84" to be exact. Were
needing info on the size servo and such to use for this model and any other
needed info. We are using a weedwhip motor to power the boat. Any help would
be greatly appreciated.

Thank you Neil

My colleague Mike Mayhew made a 13 foot RC Paddle Steamer. He's a very
helpful chap about all things RC and model boats and you could make contact
with him by phone or email, (depending where you are), by visiting

Curious - what kind of boat it? Battleship, Sport fisherman, large duck to
scare kids?

Only "binaries" groups allow the posting of pictures.
The easiest way is to post your pictures to ...
http://photos.yahoo.com/?mybcs
and create a link to the images.
It doesn't take long to set up.

post directly in alt.binaries.radio-control and write a note in this forum
telling us about it. Not many people are using that particular news-group,
so it's easy to get into and quite useful.

A lot of us don't have access to "binaries" groups.

Everyone has access to the www.

A local group here build Tug boats with a fire fighting knozzle on deck.
It's connected to a small pump that they are able to squirt water at the
kids. Great suprise when they only think they are going to get a closer
look as the tug approaches the shore.

I just looked at the pics, Thats a BIG boat. I would suggest for the steering
to use two servos linked via a "Y" harness and do a push-pull setup. Using 1/4
scale servos and a hefty set of batteries. Also that motor might not be the
best choice for you. I relize that you aren't looking for speed, but a motor
like that has problems pushing 48" boats around. I would also suggest water
cooling via a pump so you can sit at idle, as the deck is enclosed and your
going to be asking alot form the motor to get that boat moving, Its gonna run
hot.

Good luck
