I just watched a nitro oval race and I have to say it was BORING. I
actually feel dizzy. I just dont get it. Are brakes even necessary? Bleh.

Oval racing is more predictable than touring or regular off-road. Each
adjustment to the car makes a significant and identifiable difference to the
handling. It's also simpler to develop a strategy, and the 'fastest line'
isn't hard to figure out through the course. All that having been said, I
personally prefer the variety and spice of normal offroad, or touring when I
can't get the other. My cars turn right as well as left. hehehe.

Hmm I heard simpler loud and clear. I think I agree.

Yeah my club started offroad buggy oval due to pleads from the nascar folk.
We tried it and it lasted about 2 weeks. Honestly it was kind of boring.
Trigger wide open just going in a circle... turns 1,2,3,4? no... honestly
oval racing is more like two 180' turns separated by short sections of
straight. it makes my eyes glaze.

Yeah, we ran a decent oval .. with bumps and a jump too .. ;)

We ran different timings though, with the fastest single lap over two
five minute qualifiers being the grid and order for finals. With 10 car
heats it was a case of tactical driving until you could guarantee a slot
then go for it with a clear track and maybe three laps at as absolutely
fast as possible. Again, it sounds boring, but in reality it worked
extremely well.

The finals were run in the reverse direction and were a straight five
minute race, but over three legs .. ;)

That's when it got *really* interesting .. It'a amazing how many people
can put in a blistering single lap, but are actually quite crap when
they have to replicate it 20+ times .. ;)

like any form of racing....
until you win every week effortlessly,
there is more to it than meets the eye.

"racing" of any type is easy enough.
"winning" regardless of type, is difficult.

When Stadium racing starts drawing the crowds that they get
at Bristol and Charlotte get back to me about boring.....
