Hi,

I am thinking about getting a Tamiya Wild Dagger kit. Anyone out there
who has one, how long can it run on a pack of 2400 or 1800 batteries?
Is it fast? Would you buy it again? Is it build well?

I have looked at other monster trucks, but the only hobby shop in the
area does not carry traxxas. I'd like to buy locally as I am just
beginning in the hobby.

Any input or links would be appreciated,
Jolyhils

Sorry, I didn't see the first post.
The Wild Dagger is a great truck for a beginner,
here's why I think that...

A lot of non-competitive quality kits from Tamiya are OK.
Just OK. They run well, are hardy and tuff to break, but
the are quickly outgrown.
If you have already owned a comp-quality truck or buggy,
you will be disappointed.

Firstly, two-piece suspension arms. You screw them together
like a clamshell. Next, only two choices for pinion gears...
they choose the two possible ratios and you MUST use the
Tamiya pinions, (metric pitch I'm told).
Non-adjustable camber, ALL arms and the like pivot
on threaded hinge pins, not machined pins with E-clips.
So the suspension is a little sloppy, even new.
One motor must be reversed, not a problem for the supplied
silver-can motors. They have zero degree timing. You end up
using Magnetic Mayhems (good choice) or any modified
motor with adjustable timing. (Reverse timing on one).
Cant go to low with the motor winds, because you cant change the
gearing that much.

So if you want a good toy... Great choice.
If you are a racer, you will be disappointed like I was.
Kind of hard to get parts for it too.
Mine eats up front dog bones, can't find any CVDs the right length.
It is NOT a small E-Maxx, not even close.

Hope this helps,
John

Oh, By the way,
It will run forever on a 2400mAh pack with the stock motors.
Nearly ten minutes if I recall, went to mods right away.
