Looks like this is wrong group.Is there one that deals with R/C
tanks,trucks e.t.c.?

So did I,however all the posts I can see are about
cars.(news-text.blueyonder.co.uk server)

It's the right group, there just aren't any tank people reading it
right now. You might be better off with a dedicated web forum, like
