Anybody have control issues with the J-Power f-18 rtf?
Three short flights, 1 plane MIA.
Here are my issues with the plane:
slow response to stick movements. (compared to my parkzone p-51 mustang BL)
during it's last flight, it didn't respond for 3-4 seconds and flew away into a "forest of trees" before I could try to turn it around. I eventually had "control" (sort of ) again but it was too late.
There are were no other planes in the area to interfere signals.

I plane looked great and flew stable when I did have control.
I would like to get another edf, but unsure if I want another one of these rtf units. Maybe should invest in a dx6i and buy receiver ready planes instead.
Thanks for any responses.

You should do range check before you fly. I did range check with my J-power F/A18 and found that the range is too short compared to other radios I have. Normally with TX antenna collapsed one should be able to walk away at least 30 paces and still maintain control. The J-power radio set would lose control with only 5 paces away with antenna fully collapsed and would only maintain control about 10 paces away with antenna fully extended. This is definitely not flyable. I ask for exchange of the radio. You should call hobby-lobby customer service ASAP.

Update: I swapped out both TX and RX and still have some issues. It turns out that the RX is placed right under the two super powerful magnets that holds the canopy. Very BAD for any electronics. Move RX away from those magnets as much as possible, or remove the magnets all together.

Also check to see if the throttle connector to RX is jammed by plastics. You get lots of interference from motor except at full and all closed position. Also there is a tendency for the throttle to get jammed at fully open throttle. Route your antenna to the nose to avoid the magnets and motor and ESC.
