I'm sure that this idea could be carried over into aircraft science. About fifteen years ago while the president of the St Louis Kite Club, the club worked with a local grade school sixth grade. During one quarter of the year the math class studied the mathamatical aspects of kites, the science class took on the flight aspects and design, the history class studied the history, the art class studied artistic design and the industrial arts took on construction.
The kite club supplied our expertise in those areas. The retired club members went to the classes as mentors. We hung our kites throughout the school as examples.
The project concluded with a compition in all areas mentioned above and an all day kite festival with BBQ during the school day for the entire school, with the club giving stunt demos and helping the kids fly our kites.
The educational part of all this extended also to the club as we also learned from the kids.
A great expierence for all.
