Hi, I'm in the process of building an ardupilot. I've tried to read everything I can on the forums, but still have a couple questions.

I don't know what sort of 5hz GPS Eagletree uses, but is it compatible?

Is there a higher power xbee module on 900mhz that I can use? This is only 100mw http://www.sparkfun.com/commerce/product_info.php?products_id=9087 I remember reading someone had a 1watt version..???

On that note, do the xbee modules on 900mhz create any GPS lock issues?

Lastly, not being able to get a Z sensor is annoying me. I know I can probably get one from attopilot.com but that seems like a long winded and potentially expensive and slow way of getting one. Anywhere else I can get one?

Cheers
Jamie

Hi Jamie,

Ardupilot will support any GPS in NMEA mode, but you'll have to create a Y-adapter if you want to share it with the Eagletree device. Need to know what baud rate it's running at, too.

We haven't had any trouble with 900Mhz Xbee modules interfering with GPS.

We now make Z sensors (and XYs). We're selling them as a set (http://store.diydrones.com/ProductDetails.asp?ProductCode=SE-0002-01) , but I'll ask Jordi to break out the Z by itself.

HI Chris, thanks for the quick reply.

So how do I go about ordering just the z right now?

Well, you only asked a few minutes ago, so please give us some time to break out the part as a stand-alone SKU. We'll be doing another production run next week, so they'll be back in stock then.

You can always use the attopilot Z sensor, but you'll have to splice the cable. Ours have the right connector for the Ardupilot cable out of the box.

Update: I just talked to Jordi about this and he says you can't mix sensors (FMA with attopilot or paparazzi or ardupilot) so there's no point in selling Zs by themselves. Do you have an FMA XY? I may have a spare FMA Z I can send you.

Hi Chris,

Oh really. I didn't know that.

Yes I do have the FMA XY sensor, and I would be very keen to buy your spare Z sensor.

PM sent.

Cheers
