This was plans built and was called the Giant and is essentially an SE5A. I acquired the partially completed plane and it is now almost completed. The motor is a Hobby King KB45-11 xl and is 1000kv. I built a 6:1 belt drive that turns a 26-12 prop. With 6s 5000 mah lipos it generates 18 lb thrust. It is covered with Solartex fabric. The maiden was with 10 gusting to 20 mph wind. Here is the vid of the maiden:

Now I need to finish the covering of the fuselage and add cylinder heads (it had a big V-8) and insignias

It is a vintage radio converted to 2.4 with XPS. It is hardly outdated though. It was one of the first computer radios and has a host of features unavailable on modern transmitters such as:
Auto trim button feeds in trim to eliminate pressure on controls.
Reads out milliseconds when programming so you know the servo range.
Trim range can be set from 0 to 100% of control range.
Single stick versions available.
Prices for nice ones range from $200 to $400

They can be converted with a new encoder called a Microstar based on the micropro 8000 (MP8K)
That is my main transmitter.

Hello Tom,
I didn't know that you started a thread on this airplane! How is it flying nowadays?
