This question belongs in the regular control line section but there hasn't been any activity there in more than 100 days.

I'm trying to get a 20 year old control line, gas airplane (.30 size) flying and I remember as a kid using a control handle called the U-Realy.

It was an all-in-one control line handle with a crank that allowed one to crank the wire line into the handle. It had a lock on the spool so you could spool out the length of wire you wanted to use and the two wire fed out to the same length, regardless of how much you let out.

It was a very slick little handle.

The question is, do any of you guys know if it's still in production?
If not, where could I go to get similar accessories.

Thanks.

As far as I know the U-Reely hasn't been in production for many years now nor is there anything similar made. I believe there are still some in use and maybe available secondhand. Everyone I know uses conventional handles and lines.

If you want more definite answer try asking on the Stuka Stunt forum at http://www.clstunt.com/cgi-bin/dcforum/dcboard.cgi. That's a very active general C/L forum and I'm sure there are guys over there who will know the exact dates when they were available etc.

Good luck - Steve

Thanks for the info. Very good follow up.

Sorry for taking so long to come back to acknowledge.
I'm so active on the forums lately it's tough sometimes to remember where one's been.

They are often listed on eBay. Usually not too expensive. Search with key words U-Reely and "Jim Walker" together and separately. Should see about 3 or 4 a month.

I think it was AMA and other national organisations who spelled the end of the U-Reely, something to do with bad handle balance, the arrival of wrist thongs, and pull testing. I still have one, haven't used it for years, soon though.
