Whats the point... RF etc are all model aircraft flight simulators aimed at simulating the control of a model aircraft using a transmitter - not by nodding or turning your head !

This would be pretty cool though!

The Track IR system works well with RealFlight. It allows you to pan and tilt the camera by moving your head, and unlocks the view from the airplane.

This lets you look around freely while flying, which is something you can do in real life. I believe this enhances the simulation. In particular, I like that it lets me look around the scene and see things like the ground, or the edge of the runway, even if the plane is high up. Normally the camera is centered on the aircraft, which isn't as ideal.

Good point - I spose in real life you would not always be focused on just the model

I haven't used FreeTrack with RF, but I use it for MS FSX. It's a really great piece of software. If you already have a webcam and some IR LEDs, you won't have to spend any money. The frame rate for capturing your head's motion will be limited by your webcam, usually under 30 fps. If you spend the extra money on something like TrackIR, you'll get much smoother motion. I think it's above 100 fps but I'm not too sure as I've never used it. I'm happy with FreeTrack. It's definitely something worth trying if you have some spare time to solder up some LEDs. It really puts you in the sim. I just wish I had some video goggles to go along with it.

My 2 cents...

I have TrackIR that I use for LockOn and IL-2 Sturmovik, etc. It works a treat in RealFlight, especially if you go into the normal camera zoom mode (the one that doesn't auto-zoom). You can pan around the camera to see more space in front of your aircraft, which is handy for better predictive maneuvering, etc.

Like mentioned above, it also unlocks the view from the inside, which is awesome too.

However, if you don't play flight (not RC) simulators, the expenditure is not justified, unless you make a DIY head tracking device yourself. Most of the time I spend in RealFlight, I haven't got my TrackIR on at all, to be fair.
