AMA also has some demo boilerplate bylaws that you can follow...

but any chartered club should have some written rules as to how it will be run...

what they say is up to the club...TOTALLY but should be written

and HOW to be included into membership as well as how not to be a member should be written...

they can be SHORT but written and agreed to by the membership...

call her (LOIS) for advice and directions as needed...

and YES sending them in writing is a "MUST"..

I love the fact your club only charges $40 for full membership. Mine thinks it needs $150 for the year. So I just show up and say hi to everybody and haven't been hasseled yet:D

Yeah, that would last about ten minutes at my club. Being the treasurer, I know who has and hasn't paid up, so do the rest of the officers, the board and the old farts in the daytime.

Club dues are usually determined by the cost of operating the club.

Renting the field
Field improvements (Shelter, paved runway, gravel or pavement for the parking lot)
Mowing costs
Meeting room rental
Postage for newsletters
Cost of the club's website.

And others.

Our club has lower dues than the one charging $150 a year... but our field rental is extremely low.

My bet is the site rental in CA is not so cheap....

Pay your dues.
By not paying your fair share... you are making others pay it for you... and will accellerate the need for the club to raise the dues.
