What are people doing for the Swift pinions with the Scorpion motors.?
I find the the reduction shoulder on the shaft is just a few millimeters too long for proper mating of the pinion and main gear. My main gear will hit the base portion of the pinion.
I have ground some off the inside of the pinion in a hollow cone shape to match the Scorpion shaft reduction.
A plate to increase the thickness of the motor mount might also work.
Who else has fixed this and how?
Thanks

My Scorpion HK-4020-910 and both 9T and 10T pinions mated fine with the main gear, but with not much tolerance. The pinions sit almost at the base of the motor shaft. One thing you could try is mounting the pinion upside-down if you can't get it to work otherwise.

ds,
Thought of that. The double main gear on the 620 Swift let the air out of that one. Maybe I'll try that on the 16 and move the last 600+ motor to the Swift 620.
It seems strange that the 1100 4020 would be different than the 910. It is not off by much. I could only tell by engaging the mesh and then lowering the motor. It would push on the main gear by just enough to slightly push down on the main.

Bummer. Here's a shot of where my pinion is. Sorry I don't have one of it mounted. It clears but not by very much. Could you add some washers on top of the mount to raise the motor a bit?

My sloped part definitely is higher than that. I think I will try to fabricate some type of plate. With the heat of this motor the more contact with the motor mount the better. I don't think the washers will allow that much contact.
I have put some forward canopy standoffs on the front metal motor mount holes. Holds the 620 Swift canopy on great. They even get warm from the heat of this motor. Like big radiator fins. :)

Strange that your motor has a different shaft. Good luck with the mount.

I wish Ready Heli still sold the Revco "Hard One' pinions in mod .1 in 8,9,10,11t.
I have an 8T that used on my Raptor E-620 when I had the 4025 890 Scorpion motor on it and it was a good quality 1 pc pinion.
I used the 10T on my Swift with the 4020-1100 motor and the 9T with the 4020-1390 motor. There is no collar on them so perfect fitment is easy.
For some reason they dropped them from thier inventory
I dont think they replaced those sizes with the Rhino line of pinions. Most of them are mod .6 I believe like the Outrage 550 uses. They are dirt chap at 2.99 for a pair badged under the Outrage brand from Outrage dealers

Just take an 82 degree counter sink and take off some material on the back side of the gear.
I did it last night and my 10t pinion fits fine.

doug,
thanks for posting. I was beginning to think I was the only one with this issue. That is essentially what I did, only used a Dremel stone to take out the material.
Between having to modify my pinions (don't want to make the 8T any weaker than it is) and the Scorpion high heat, I think I will stick with the Century 1110kv motors.
