I have been flying a 2m Starling Pro and want to get a full-size ship. I have my eye on second hand- 'Pike Superior' and 'Xperience Pro', both I am told are great planes. Any opinions as to which would be the better beginner plane overall. Any opinions please. Cheers, Mike

I have an Xperience Pro and really like it. It has a good speed range and can handle a variety of wind conditions well, without having to use ballast. I have never flown a Pike Superior so I don't know what the comparison between the two would be. I think that the xPro is a more modern sailplane. I would highly recommend the xPro!

Yer mikey Ken has a Xperiance Pro and is absolutly loves it and thats the plane he flies in comps. You have seen it fly before so you should know how it flies. Goes up in any lift and once all programed right it will last you a long time ;)

Chris

Either is excellent. Can't make a mistake here.

Take whichever is in the best shape.

If you can find a pike perfect it is a better plane than the superior and is one of the most forgiving high performance planes you will ever fly. It would be a great entry into the top tier planes. Even with as forgiving as it is, top pilots fly it becuase the performance is close or above any plane out there. You give up a little in speed and ground coverage, but when you are thermaling at great distance its nice to have a plane that is thumb forgiving.

I've been having a lot of fun with an old 7037 Mantis. A lot cheaper. Maybe not as fast as the new ships, but it lands very nicely. Since most contests are landing contests, it's not going to make a lot of excuses available to me.

Lincoln,

Don't see you on the LISF registered pilot list for this weekend's ESL contest. Sign up and bring that Mantis. 39 pilots coming, why not you?

Just click the link. You know you want to. :D
