Has anyone thought about the challenges of fitting out a full size jet ski with radio control ?

This R/C jet ski would only be used in international waters, to deter and hopefully prevent pirate attacks

An unmanned autonomous jet ski is described in this article, but I suspect the price is sky high

A major challenge seems to be finding powerful waterproof servos

You don't need powerful servos to actuate relays.
The relays can control more powerful linear actuators.
It's really a matter of range, and the limited power of hobby class
RC equipment.

The old TV show 'Beyond 2000' had a prototype ski tow that was essentially a jet ski controlled by the skier from the ski rope, seemed to work pretty good. I know that the connection was not mechanical but electronic, so substitute radio for the wire and viola!

Well, One of my jobs in the navy was looking after drone boats for minesweeping, they were 7.5 metre boats that towed a couple of tons of magnets and noise makers. 2 150 HP outboards, throttle and steering radio controlled. The technology was ancient, newer technology with hydraulic steering and solenoid actuated pump would be very easy to do.

Mith Busters, did an outboard boat. The servos connected to the steering wheel with what appeared to be a 1 to 1 application.

When I was in we used MSB's ( 57 ft.wood boats ), MSL's ( 36 ft. fiberglass ), MSB towing 6 Bakers, pigs, Otters and mag tails.MSL towing a Mag. cable and pigs with otters for mored mines. Then came the Mark 105.

My how times have changed. None of it was radio controlled.

they did it in the james bond eppisode where they recreated the boat jump, Jamie piloted the chace boat with Adam piloting the jump boat from the chase boat with pretty regular FM tx
