Does anyone know of a 10k XC course that has been used anywhere in New England? I'm guessing that somewhere in central New York State might be a good area for this. Any help is much appreciated.

It's bad when we have to go out of New England for a clear shot at a 10k.

Population density, lack of level ground, dense woods and other factors mitigate against it. But if you know of an area that's local and well suited for the 10k---please do tell.

Check out the onion farms around Florida, NY. I remember flying off some sod farms there. Someone mentioned a course that was a little jagged but flyable, though I can't remember if it was 10K or 2K. Another candidate would be the area around where the Woodstock concert was held. I flew a hand launch off that site maybe 15 years ago but it may have been developed. There was a big open field and the country roads seemed a bit more open (tree free) than would be typical in MA or farther north.

There's nothing like what David Beach did his, unfortunately unsuccessful, 10K attempts on this week in Illinois. Straight road, no traffic, over open fields, with just one place where there were a few trees on both sides of the road.

Unfortunately the weather didn't cooperate, otherwise I am sure it would have been in the bag.

I got my 1K for my level III as a small consolation.

Anker...Just doing some scouting for David. ;) I'll get on my 1k as soon as the weather breaks. :censored: See you tomorrow if it doesn't rain.
