i found a Stick mount gear box for a ammo 20-40-3500kv motor , it says for sport flying put the 5.3:1 gears in it with a 10x4.7sf prop, and for high performance put the 8:01 gear in it with a 12x6 sf prop , the motor, stick mount gear box, weight around 77 grams, but i dont know what the thrust would be, would this work in a plane similair to the 2dogs fighters?

Driggs, If the plane is the same size, weight and wing area as the "Top Gun" fighters then your motor should work ok. For combat flying, I would try to gear the motor for about an 8 to 9 inch prop. If that is not possible, gear the motor as tall as it will go (smallest numerical ratio) and prop for about 13 amps.

A 2 cell 1300 is the battery size of choice for the airframe, which would give you about 6 minutes of flight time. 5 minutes for combat, and the extra minute for launching and landing power.

You will find that a geared motor can be a PITA when used for combat. Cut streamers can get all wrapped up in the gearbox and force a dead stick landing after you get a kill. I've never let that stop me though. There is no crying in combat.

Good Luck and have fun.
