I have a 4 step plan for running this place.
1. Assume the reigns of power.
2. Come up with a great idea that everyone loves.
3. ???
4. Profit.

I am WITTIER than the owner!
I am BETTER LOOKING than the owner!
I am a SNAPPIER DRESSER than the owner!
I should BE the owner!
(You know I'm kidding, right? Why would I want to burden myself with the mundane minutiae of running the place when I can just pop in and use it at my leisure?)

I'm a senior citizen, but computer literate and would like something really different before..... (no I'm in good health and not anticipating any unfortunate event).
My background includes extensive business experience. Ran two businesses, longtime employee or my current employer, former VP Sales. Currently a contract employee, but with very flexible hours.
I'm a lifelong modeller and have flown free flight, RC sailplanes, electric models and electric helis.
Proposal sounds very interesting, if not fun. I don't know that work is ever "fun".
Before I took the assignment I'd like a telephone conversation to understand what you actually DO to run a site! Do I get to fly wherever the home base is, or do I do it from my computer? Is a ride in Russian Thunder part of the deal? Just curious.

Good question. What DOES a site owner do on a daily basis? I am sincerely interested. (I'd like to think practice in Russian Thunder for about 4 hours followed by a swedish massage but I sorta doubt it...)

My vote (not that it matters) goes to DaDude for the Chuck Norris reference.
On the other hand I would not accept the responsibility of being the site owner under any circumstances. The responsibility of keeping all of you who entered in check greatly exceeds my ability and I would likely set a new record for smacking people with a trout... Good luck to whom ever wins.

I vote for Liquidity, I mostly agree with the reasons given so far, with some minor adjustments..
1. He has made a career of generating income, with a minimum of actual fist hand effort.
2. He is a male domestic engineer.
3. He is one of the few people I know who actually has to file a form to the IRS for the profits from used equipement he's resold.
4. He has fooled people into thinking he is a good dood
5. He is under the false impression that I would be extremely upset, and I don't want to take that from him.

Hmmm... Reasons I should be the owner for a day... lets see...
Cuz Im a professional US Army Blackhawk pilot with 17 years of experience who can perform under extremely high stress levels. This is proven by 4 combat tours with zero casualties to my soldiers or myself. (Of course that only matters if people shoot at you here on this site while you are trying to fly)
Cuz I am the only person on RCG that has ever crashed that dang 13 foot SRT/10
Cuz I would make one day every month "Contest Day" where people had to accomplish some random task in less than 24 hours like just before the 4th of July, RCG-ers would have to scratch build a patriotic airplane, post the build, and video of flight to win.
So thats it. And did I mention I look great in a flight suit? ;)

Are you kidding me? It’s not like I have a huge inventory of wigs lying around the house! I had to employ the assistance of my daughter to help me with my new hairdo. My choices were Ariel, Snow White and Cinderella. After trying them on, she said to wear the Ariel wig, and who’s going to argue with an 8 year old?
But now that you have mentioned it, I do like those Filet O Fish Samiches. That's a nice piece of fish! Might have to work on the Ronald costume and resubmit my application at the local Mickey D's. ;)

I have decided this is where my campaign trail ends...
Between running my own site (Aircraft Addicts Anonymous), and my new found interest of becoming the latest Southern California Chapter Ronald McDonald (thanks wtflyr), my calendar is now officially full.
I'll go ahead and give my votes to SanteePat. He's a great guy, who once helped me to recognize my own addiction of model aircraft. He then purchased one of my surplus planes, just to show me the error of my ways. The deep routed sins of buying aircraft for pleasure. The joy of taking home yet another aircraft, knowing that there isn't one square inch of room in the hanger for it, and that it would probably end up somewhere in the master bedroom where the wife's stuff used to be. Pat was one of the first to inspire me to create AAA. "Helping others to help themselves first". Thanks Pat! God bless people like SanteePat. He can help you too!! Just give him a chance.
SANTEEPAT! SANTEEPAT! SANTEEPAT!!!!
Then again, Imopar does share his B-day on the same day as me. And he is a veteran (got a soft spot for those cats), and he did crash that GIANT wing ((AWESOME!!)). It's a tough call, but I am still going to pull for SP, we need more WEST COAST representation on RCG.
Here are a couple of campaign slogans for you Pat..
Fly it like you stole it!
More Flying Less Crying!!

there is nothing that I can imagine would make me want to be site owner for a day... namely because all the things that I'd want to do to clean things up as I intend would create a massive poo-storm because so many others would want it back the next day (moving threads to LTUP, unsticky-ing things, moderating based on my ideas on RCG, etc). I imagine this to be true for anyone.
So maybe I can be site owner for a day because I realise that any impact I have would be inconsequential :)

I think that I would be a great site owner for a day because I think that I could create even more forums that could apply to an even wider audience than this site already does.( It's Just begging for a F3A section). i could spend some times to post new and refreshing news in many of the forums, and i could even try my hand at keeping trolls at bay. Also, I would expand on the different genres of Forums (the EDF section needs more specific forums). I think that RCgroups.com could benefit if i was owner for a day.

- the amount of traffic here...
- the amount of plane/heli expertise required (which noob me does not have) ...

... then I therefore must decline to participate in this contest. I'd be way over my head and out of my league! No thanks! :D

It's possible he could fight Chuck Norris, It's just he'd lose, right off the bat.
very quickly,and most likely,very painfully
That's why I should get to be the site owner for day.
I'd most likely be dead after the fight, so why not let me do something cool before my death?
I'll even video tape it... :D

The site owner would at least:
1. Be addicted to all aspect of R/C (Air, Land, Sea)
2. Believes in the adage "information wants to be free"
3. Not do this for the money, but for the love of... if so, then money will come (hopefully).
4. Sleep little everyday (average 4hrs)
hmmm, that kinda sums me up btw:D

An outline of changes to be discussed with moderators
1. First thing, negotiate an ownership interest.
2. Upon success in negotiation of #1 implement innovation in deriving more income from advertising without increasing the present fee schedule.
3. Management of participants would be left up to the moderators, not the site owner.
4. Modify the software so that duplicate threads could be combined.
5. Rein in reviewers that are paid for specific results, misleads potential customers and creates a bad experience.
6. Reveal a list 0f the site moderators and their email addresses.
7. Change the picture below the present site owner's nick name to be something other than Buffalo Bill.
8. Setup an award program for innovative posts and construction ideas.
9. Setup an award program for the best monthly video.
10. Setup an award program for the best monthly photo.
Proibably would need more than a day to make a dent in implementing any changes, sorry, not much could be done in a day.

1. I would place the slope forum at the top of the main list as it should be. ;)
2. I would remove the one reply every 60 sec. rule on the PM's for members with more than 1000 posts.
3. I would make the PM box hold more PM's for members with more than 1000 posts
4. I would not blame Canada.
5. I would turn off the one search every 15 sec. rule for members with more than 1000 posts.

1. I would do everything for everybody.
2. I would fix what doesn't work
3. I would leave alone what does work
4. I would stimulate the RC economy
5. Now that's "Change you can believe in."

I forgot one of my items to be implemented as owner of the day.
Any forum thread that just contains a one on one unrelated conversation between only two members will be locked. IF they want to send one liners to each other then they should use a telephone. Obviously the thread is of no interest to anyone else and should not be constantly pushed to the top. This also applies to threads that have run their course....and have been turned into BS.
Moderators will be instructed to take a more active role in moderating. Some threads contain 30,000 views, 5,000 posts that consist of one liners, like "Are you going Sunday, I'll be there at 9"
In additon, post counts for the member will be reduced for these kind of posts.
Are Telephones now outdated?

Are Telephones now outdated?
I believe they are, unless the phone has texting capability.. Having Chat rooms available might be a more viable solution.
Dang if I didn't get suckered into answering that question and proving Scalefan's point. Bravo SF, Bra-vo!

Personally, I think "Moderator" sounds too much like "Terminator". They should be known as the Mod-Squad. Not only here to give you a good beat down when you need it, but also to give you a hearty congratulations for being a such a wonderful do-gooder by finger pointing at all of the flaws of this site and the people who run it.
