Are you a building supplies pack rat? Do scraps of wood send you into OCD oblivion?
Hey, I'll show mine if you'll show yours... the first step is to get out of denial...

For some relief just watch 'New Yankee Workshop' with Norm Abrams, Norm is my packrat hero, he makes the rest of us look like pikers! Then when I find that piece of ply half an inch wide and two feet long I know why I kept it, I might have some need for it someday!

Who's a pack rat?
sorry about the pic's I was in a real hurry to show you I am not a pack rat,
This is all good stuff, even the boxes under the work bench with all the leftover pieces from the builds, You never know when you might need that little strip of wood for someting.

I used to be as bad as Pat with the styrene scraps until I started buying it in bulk 4 x 8 sheets---. ;)
Paint bottles are another story. I think some of mine have solidified---. :o

Jeeeeeezzzze! You guys are way bad and guilty. YUP! I said Guilty;Guilty of having too much space. See if ya didn't have the space ya couldn't store the stuff.
However I would never wish less space on you so ya have to do the spring cleaning thing and sort it all out. I like those little wall racks that Ropanach has his bottles in. I think I could use a few of them for my paints. As for paints I never have been able to figure out how they can dry up with the top on so tight that it takes a vise and a plyers to get it off. Just doesn't add up.
SO grab an empty box and a chair and start going through the STUFF. Throw the useless into the empty box and chuck it when it's full. (Or sell it on sleasebay)Then get another empty box.
It's the only decent thing to do. Ha! Pete

For the last couple of weeks, I've been trying to clean the shop. How in the hell did I get so much stuff?

HaHa! For what we pay for some of this stuff it does seem criminal to chuck any of it.

Pat, I had the same problem with a cookie sheet full of small paint bottles. You can't tell what the color is until you pick up each and every bottle. Get some small sticky labels and stick them to the bottle tops. Write the color name or even smear some paint on it. Now you can see at a glance which bottle you are looking for. I wish I could take credit for that one, but I think it came from one of those tips and tricks inserts in a magazine a while back.
And the comment on more space means more clutter is exactly correct. My shop is bigger than I need so I end up with way too much stuff. I've started the task of cleaning out the junk and some of the stuff is already gone. If I could just get everybody elses stuff out of my basement I would be in good shape.

I'm the opposite- 20 years of living in apartments got me that way- recently I threw out a lot of clutter on my desk which included parts needed to finish my build

As I've told people. Everyone has to collect something. Model boat stuff is something? right?.... no matter how much you collect.

WOW boaterdave. You have soooo much room you could build real boats. Looks to be plenty of room for way more STUFF but I don't see an open spot anywhere you could build a boat on. Guess you do need to reorganize things. Ha! Pete

Should I show the long shelves too? It's like one of those kids picture puzzles. Find the Italeri PT, find the Amsterdam tug, find the...
It actually looks worse that it is. We had just moved all of my wife's sisters' stuff into our basement and garage and I had to move tons of stuff around to make room. Still needs a good purging, though.
And I did have a 14' canoe in my shop for a while.

Damn Dave,I am so envious of all that space. The long shelves are great. You need to put all the finished models on one end,all the kits in boxes unstarted on the other end and the models under construction in the middle with their related parts. Now you will have even more space for more models. Gee! So many boats so little time....
Man I would kill for that much space. Pete

I'm with green boat on this one. My garage looks like those storage ads on TV. First mission is to find the boxes with the supplies in them, next to make at least enough additional space for a building board.

At least you HAVE drawers, something I wish I had in my shop. :p
Except for a couple of plastic pull-out cabinets, I have zip---. :o
But then, I'd probably amass more clutter---. ;)
