Never heard of a 52 incher. Dumas makes/made a 48" model of the 80 foot PT-109 in 1:20 scale. 52 inches would put it at 1:18.46 scale, just a bit odd...

and Frank has a 5 footer (60 inches) in 1:16 scale...

Someone is selling 5 of them on E BAY as RTR boats with am radio equipment. claims 2 to 3 week custom installation after purchase. 2 550 elect motors 100 amp esc. He is located in Orlando Florida. I need as much information as I can get befor I commit.

I would say......beware

Frank at Mosquito Boat Hobbies is working up a new 1:20 scale 80 foot Elco in both the PT-109 and the PT-596 configuration, this model will be an improvement over the former Dumas kit.
This will not be a RTR though so the modelers who want this will actually be modelers.

Don't worry, no SCALE modeler will be interested in this thing. Here's the listing on ebay:

It's a fair big toy though for the go-fasters...

That same PT is being marketed by IMEX and who knows how many other distributors of the Chinese ARTR's.

It has only one propeller. Stay away....

What I saw today at the Shanghai Model Expo wasn't too shabby, especially the 1/24 RTR models which offer both a lot of detail as well as crew. On the other hand, the 53" GP version from another supplier is best described as a stand-off scale.

What do you call a stand off scale? Who makes it and where can I get the info & Price

It looks scale, if you stand way off. :p

This is what I consider stand-off scale which is the new 1/18 RTR version from Vantex. Maybe I'm just picky when it comes to detail.

That PT-109 offered by G-Freak is the EP version from Vantex but shows the single GP prop setup that IMEX just added. At that price, I'd second getting one of the Mosquito Boat kits. It may not be as large as you want but at least you'll have a well detailed model.

I like the size but would like more detail. I want to have some fun with a scale PT RTR befor we start racing our hydros
