I was looking at that brand, too.

As for your question, you want NMEA before the USB connector. If you have the SirF demo program, you can set it up to output NMEA or binary. If you want that output before the USB, then you'll get TTL output(NMEA or binary) from the GPS, which then goes into the TTL/USB adapter. Get that off and you'll then have to either convert to serial or connect to something that likes TTL. Buuut, looks like the TTL/USB is part of the whole board and not something you could hack easily.

NMEA comes out of the GPS and is not dependant on the TTL/serial/USB on the other end. That's the bottom line.

I bought some other USB GPS that has the TTL adpater in the cord, but it is simple to just unscrew it and desolder the adapter . The adapter PCB is also labeled, luckily. The funny thing is that my particular USB GPS only advertises 4800 baud NMEA and it is fully capable of 57600 baud binary.

Good Luck

so probably it will be useless for fpv/uav?

if it can be "hacked/modified" will be necessary an extra hardware to use it?

That's my opinion. I'd say look for another - too many potential headaches with that one. The USB GPS types that are attached to a long USB cable can be found cheap. Those types usually have the TTL/USB converter in the cable, not built into the board. Look for a big lumpy thing in the cable.

If price seems too good to be true it just might be. Attempted to purchase from them but after big delay in shipping contacted Paypal for refund. They said it was problem with wrong address but I know it was correct because I saved the order page.

I've converted many GPS to serial and it's not as easy as some might lead you to believe. Sometimes you get lucky but in the case of that particular unit
both software and hardware modification is required. IMO, like Helmodel says, not worth it when you can get "snake that swallowed mouse" type for few bucks more or just get an em406 from Sparkfun.
