Any idea of making a single LED Light seen in 360 degree.......

to make LED seen in 360 degree, you need Multiple LED arrange in Circular....most LED has a Vuable angle of 60 degree.....to make it Vuable in 360 degree, you need 6 LED arrange in 60 degree.

Been thinking of using a Single LED Pointed Up ward (to the Sky)......to make it Vuable on the Side.....I could Drill a Cone on TOP of the LED, the Cone Shape on Top could Scattered the Light from the Top to the side......I am not sure if this will work.

You Could paint the Cone shape with White or Silver to enhance the Lighting.

Plan to use LED as a Beacon on Top of my Helicopter......The LED must by seen in a Broad day light say on a Sunny day 12 noon.

or migth use a Transparent Plastic Cup, that will cover the LED and hoping the light will be diverted side ways.

Too funny... I plan to be selling these soon (maybe by the end of the week).
These are special 1 watt luxeon side-emitting LEDs (built-in inverted cone and radial reflector lens). I sold these to a few customers in the past for testing and they are extremely bright and 360 degree viewable. For flashing/strobing application like this, you do not need to add an additional heatsink to the bottom of the emitter (already an aluminum base that dissipates some heat)

Here's a video of one in action (using my Mini-Strobe as a strobe simulation controller)... video does no justice.

Here's another soon-to-be-released Rotating Beacon simulator ("Mini-Rotator")that uses 4 standard 5mm LEDs arranged 90 degrees to each other. The controller allows you to change the speed of the rotation. Tha LEDs actually ramp up & down from one to another, mimicing the effect of a real rotating beacon.

I'm also working on an eight LED version for another customer... see pic.

If you don't need it to be super bright, just sand the outside of the LED to make it diffused. An extremely low tech method of making a nearly spherically output.

Or just buy a "diffuse lens" LED. :)

Probably smaller than what you need, but I once made a LED array to light up the inside of a stick and tissue micro model, I used 4 size 603 SMD LEDs soldered back to back, they made a very nice, even light, it looked like a drop of pure white light.

Guys, Thanks for all your suggestion.....

This Morning, I drilled a Single LED, and Files all the Surface......to make a WATER CLEAR to Dull White, it did improve the Visibility , but when you take it Outside on a Bright Sunny Day, you can not see it clearly.

look like the Best solution is use 1 Watter or Multiple LED as Posted by TOMAPOWA......

One of this day will try a Surface mount LED as suggested by ALEG.

Thanks Again.
