Don,

I purchased a Wicked Extreme and Pentium 40 for my G.P. L-39 about a month ago. 3s-2200 what a dramatic improvement! Unfortunatly, I had two Spectrum 6100e failures with lots of damage, the last one fatal. Receiver still operates and passes range test with motor running. My last two flights identical failure modes, hand launch great climb out then about 5 seconds later when i throttle back, total loss of control. Any suggestions. I had 10 great flights with your setup prior to problems. I am not blaming your stuff, I do not know what the problem is and was hoping you may have experiance concerning this. My receiver has the latest software. I did remove the ring device from the esc. wires to the receiver, not sure what it was, assumed a noise cancelling device, to route wires during installation but reinstalled as original when finished. Suspect receiver appears to operate properly in a Tunnel Hull Air Boat I designed, same battery, 25 amp esc., true r.c. 400 f motor, 6x4 prop. I would like to build up a better L-39 for this power packge as I really enjoyed flying that plane. Or am considering the foam Sapac T-45 or L-39 pretty sure it can not be used in the 70mm L-39 but that would by my choice if possible. If not how about the T-45 on 3s 2200. I am about to order something, but would like to get to the root cause of my control problem befor I toss a new plane

Thanks for any advice

The 6100E is a horrible receiver. I crashed 3 EDF models in one day using them then found out my actual range was about 650 feet when I walked it off on all three receivers. They all passed the 100ft range test but none would work past ~650 feet. They are now in slow fly park models. I now use the AR500 in my models now and have had no issue.

I say get another L-39, airlandhobbies has them for a good price. You have to add them to the cart to see the discount.

The 6100 and 6100E are the only Rx's I use in 60mm edf's and most are 100+mph. I always remove the ferrite ring and have never had any issues........ I'm looking for wood to knock on, BRB.

I always install with at least one or better yet both antenna outside the fuse. I'm starting to switch to the new JR 6250 full range carbon fuse receivers. They are same size as the 6100's but have longer antennas that can easily be placed out side of fuse mo easily. They are about $20 more than the 6100's and they have servo plugs on the "E"nds.

I agree Don.
I"ve been futiliy telling folks that all AR 6100's are "park flyer" rx's omly. It states it in the Spektrum manual. I have no experience with the new AR500. But for my money, the AR6200 (minimum) is the way to go. A few more bucks, but full range, with dual rx's and dual antennea @ 90*. I have never experienced ANY problems. Zero lockouts, reboots, or shadowing. Even in the worst notorious, so called "Bermuda Triangle" areas. And no need for long azz antennea sticking out of the plane. (even with plenty of CF in the stucture as well) Just my .02. :)

BTW: This came about as a result of numerous lockouts and reboots with the 6100's (3 were recovered from after about 4 seconds. 2 or 3 more resulted in crashes)

Thanks for the advice guy's.
I will build another G.P. L-39 Don, it was too much fun after I installed your stuff. Gary that BD sure looks good. I do like the looks of the AR6200 however I now question my decesion on 7 channel. Flaps retracts all that cool stuff you guy's are doing looks fun. Can I just Y harness things or it seems better to me to have individule travel adjusts with seperate channels for mechanical retracts . Hate to spend more money on radios, thought the 7 channel would handle my needs untill I saw what you guy's are doing. I do like the looks of the Sapac L-39, and it uses 9 or 10 servo's as the gear is mech. If they were air I would be o.k. I allready have an AR7000 in my Dynaflight PT-19, so I may get another one of those. I enjoy building this stuff, but I hate fixen'em. I believe I will leave that 6100 in the boat, it's a prototype anyway, and served it's purpose.

Yeah, for mechanical retracts. the best thing for me is put one mains on the gear channel. and the other on Aux. So the end pionts can independent. Othewise one will always be stalled, and pulling higher current. Digital servos, and a programmer would solve that problem, but at a much higher cost, and a waste for retracts.
Thanks, on the BD. :)

Do I understand this right?
Could I connect two digital servos with a Y harness and set individule end points for them with a programmer? Could I possibly reverse the direction of one as well? If so I think it would be cheaper than a 9 channel. Why does a 9 channel cost 2 1/2 times more than a 7? It's great how you guy's share your knowledge.

Yes, to both questions.
Here are three Hitec Digital servo programmers. The last one being the most versatile and expensive. Check the features and specs to see which one suits you best. There are servo functions that you can change, that you can't do even with a 9ch Tx. (I have a Futaba 9c) like "center postion" (You could fake this with "sub trim" on your Tx, but it uses up servo travel in one direction. Dang now I want one.
