when i press the throttle, the esc bursts at full speed for 5 seconds, even if i release the throttle
the boat is uncontrollable
how do i fix this ?
what is a good cheap airplane esc that would work in a boat?

Did you try adjusting the programming on the esc?
Are you using a pistol grip type radio with an airplane esc?

You may need a gear reduction drive.
Do you have a motor matched with an esc that has a sensor.
Also need to use a pc connected esc to program the low and high speed limit.
You also need to match the prop size with the motor

Morton, I would suggest you loose the airplane ESC and get one intended for boats such as the proboat, waterproof with reverse. Airplane ESC'S are not designed for boats.

Ok the most Important thing here to realize Is.A airplane ESC dont have a neutral point. The stick On airplane transmitters goes to bottom an then top of the pot.Where a boat transmitter being pistol grip or two stick centrals Itself to a neutral point. From there the ESC recognizes that point then goes to forward or reverse.Thats why they dont work correctly.
