Hi,
I am interested in learning more about a simple 28 inch combat wing provided by rcallison in post #9 of my earlier thread?

1. What prop would work with the suggested motor, speed control, battery for the simple 28 inch flying wing design?
2. What tape did he use - looks like bi-directional strapping tape, but what is it called and where do you get it? I know where to find unidirectional strapping tape ...

If you want cheap and easy you can do what my dad and I are doing (I'm 42 and he's 66). Wingspan is 28".
We basically are flying a flat piece of Dow Protection Board III cut in a wing style. We tape bamboo skewers on top as cross spars, tape on the elevons, hot glue the winglets on and hot glue/tape the servos on. The other electronics are all taped on. The motor we tie wrap to a popsicle stick. Here are some pictures.
This flies very well and satisfies our combat needs. It takes maybe 30 minutes to make and takes a beating. Cheapest I could come up with. I have a hand wound CDR motor on mine, but you could easily use parts from Hobby City. I think you could build one for:
$1.5 Foam (the whole bundle costs about $34, but you only use half a sheet)
$7 2 Servos from HC HXT900
$10 HC 3000kv BW motor
$8 HC Super Simple 18A ESC
$10 HC 1000mah 2S lipo
$13 Corona Receiver and crystal
That's about $50 for the whole thing, not bad.
Ron
and to that add:
4) 10 inch bamboo skewers
1) Popsicle stick for motor mount
2) Nylon tie straps for attaching motor to motor mount
A/R Tape (what kind of tape is shown in the photos?)
home made credit card control horns (?)
servo linkage (what diameter wire is recommended - .032 or ...?)
small diameter tubing for servo linkage stiffening
velcro, sticky backed, to secure battery
prop saver - GWS or similar plastic part
~ 1" rubber bands for prop saver
anything else?
