We had 7 combat flyers show up at the AMA today for 10 rounds of heavy
combating.I think we only lost a couple of planes today. But we had a lot of
gluing between rounds just to keep things going most of the day. The weather was
good to us with sunshine and a little breeze now and then.
The scores are as follows;
Deadmeat-40 points
Buzzy-40 points
Wildthing-30 points
Pappy-30 points
Lucky-30 points
Widowmaker-20 points
Skywalk-20 points

Overall it was a nice day to get everyone together again to do what we do best
and that is try to cut some streamers.Next contest Thursday evening at site
#4.For now watch your six.

Hi Sandy, glad to see that you are back on your feet and flying again. I'm trying to get the Weatherford group involved in a little SSC flying. Sarge looks like a likely candidate and perhaps Jim, too. Take care!

I pulled in to the AMA around 3:00 in the afternoon and Lucky was already setup
waiting for some combat action for the evening.A few minutes later rest of the
guys came rolling in for the same quest. We had Mark the (shaft) and Rich, a
couple of new flyers just starting to fly combat with our group also. We got 10
rounds in with alot of foam and planes floating down to mother earth. Sorry guys
I didn't bring my camera or we would of have a lot of photos taken. We talked
about in July and August when we can't fly at the AMA and decide to fly at
Dunkirk on Monday morning and Thursday evenings those days.I'm going to schedule
combat for next Thursday evening the 28th. at the AMA in the since we had a
large group last night flying. Widowmaker did get his heli trimmed out pretty
good after the wind laid a little. The scores are as follow for last night
combat.

Buzzy-40 points
Widowmaker-30 points
Skyhawk-30 points
Lucky-10 points
Paul-10 points
Rich-10 points
Electric Doug-10 points
Mark the Shaft-10 points

Hi Sandy,

Yeah, I built a couple of those FFF ecombat airplanes (F-6F's). Those things were "invented" right here in N Texas by John Brodie of the Hawk Field Fliers in Mansfield. They are fun and inexpensive, but pretty low on the performance scale even with a 3s1p lipo pack. I monitored that group on YahooGroups for awhile, but as you know, it's mostly a local communication forum for you guys in Muncie. Brodie tells me that the Hawk Field guys are mostly flying FFF "jet combat" these days. Have fun and drive SAFE!

Gary,we got our first 2 kits about 4 years ago from John when we starting flying the WWII planes. I'm glad to hear that you monitored our site that's another reason we keep it going. It's intersting reading to see what other clubs are doing in different parts of the country as far as how they are flying combat. Take care.

Hi Buzzy:

I'm not all that big on Park Flier WWII combat since I prefer SSC and Open B, but as far as FUN for the Buck, it can't be beat. They are LOTS of fun! I try to keep one in the back of the car. I'm going to try to start a group here in Weatherford, TX. (Sandy's former residence)

James,I use to fly with the RCCA,SSC and Open Classes for a couple of years. Also flew in the Nats a couple of times and just got tired of buying carbs. Then started flying electric 4 years ago and having a ball ever since. About 18 years ago our club was flying gremlins for several seasons then we all decide it was time to take a rest from combat. The planes we are flying now are much faster than the WWII planes and will hold on the wing tip without fall off. With the same motor and 2 cell we were using on the WWII planes
Take care and watch your six.

Never mind, I got it off of the YahooGroups chat list.

I think I'll build one DURING the next club meeting to show those guys how easy it is!

Thanks!

I tried to send it to you but wouldn't go through. If you go to our web site and join it costs nothing. Then to our files there is a print of it .It's called the Fast & Furious plane. It's not the Delta plane that you might of gotten. The plane below are what we are flying now.

Looks good, Buzzy. Just the thing to get those old "duffers" going again

dlw151947
May 22, 2009, 06:51 PM
We have changed the plane a little .No double thinkness from leading edge back a little ways.Just a carbon rod on leading edge now.Motor mount glued to bottom of plane now.Any questions just ask.
Buzzy :)

Thanks Buzzy! I appreciate the update to the drawing. I'd like to make a suggestion on the design. Based on the "crash photos" you might consider adding a short length of either dowel rod or carbon rod or a FFF doubler along the fuselage at the narrow point between the wing and tail to take care of the problem with the horizontal tail breaking off. Just a suggestion.

Good design!

The plane has 2 weak points. The place that you mention and the motor mount.I'll post a picture of the way I'm beefing the mount up.And on our new planes we are working on what you are taking about.

Do you have a drawing of the newer design? I dl'd the old F&F. Are you allowing any prop now? Also, can I run A123 type battery (2 cells) at 1100ma (from VPX)?

Dave, I'm guessing who this is.No new drawing just changing it here and there to make it a better flyer and more durable. We have alway's allowed any prop, any wing span,or design as long as it was made from fanold or depron with no airfoil. I don't see why you can't run a a123-2cell battery with us. Are you planning on coming down to Sandy's 3 day Electric Fly In?

I am Roger Wheeler- I know Mark and you guys from last year when I flew the WWII planes . I am going to try to cut a couple of the F&F so myself and Dave Decker can come out at the NEFI. I will be there all 3 days, hoping the weather cooperates. Bringing tons of fun (overpowered Blade Dancer) and look forward to seeing Sandy's with the gyro in it. I dl'd the old plan, so as long as we still use the Bp 2408-21T motor I should be OK?

Do you have a vendor list? (lukesrcplanes, etc). Also, what is the ABB building schedule gonna be ?

Do you have a vendor list? (lukesrcplanes, etc).

YES but they are FREE and not pre registered..

I know of 8 to 10 that have said that they will come... ???

but NO NAMES sorry...

as they MAY jump out of go elsewhere...???

and I will not do PR for others who may get their feelings hurt...

I have TOLD them DO NOT compete with their www site

any can order off of the web

so bring the KILLER deals the close outs and such

scratch and dent stuff ( there will be pre-NATS buyers there also)

so as to beat the internet deals that any can get...

save buyers the shipping and clear out your stock is what I have told several...

Also, what is the ABB building schedule gonna be ?

this depends on the conditions...

in the afternoon we will move the event HQ to the ABB indoor site

but this depends on the weather conditions, Rain, Wind & HEAT...

all AM we will be at the AMA for outdoor NEFI

some time in the PM depending on conditions

we will go to the indoor site...

I "MAY" have FREE Buffet dinner PASSES to the Anderson
CASSINO for entrants to the NEFI...

for friday OR saturday this is NOT sure NOW as we are checking with the TRACK/CASSINO PR dept about this...

so count on the AM Outdoors and evening at Indoors

the move may be supper FREE !!!!!!!!

tomorrow's combat will start promptly at 8:30 a.m. & end before 12 noon. The
Group will not have a combat meet on Sunday due to the conditions plus Danny & Ike have other plans. See all you fighter jocks in the morning! Lucky

Howdy y'all! My name is Dave Decker and I'm an alcho.. oh wait wrong group.

After 30+ years without a transmitter in hand I find that the bug has bitten once again. I blame Roger Wheeler for that and my diminishing bank account. So now I have 2 transmitters and enough parts to build some more planes to go with the one I inherited *ahem* bought.

I had a great time at NEFI flying combat saturday, my second day back in the air. Thanks for not embarrassing me too badly. I hope to get more involved as time and work allow.

Speaking of which, I'm hoping to make it to Hagerstown this saturday for the mayhem. I would appreciate it if someone could give me directions to the site and when things are kicking off.

Thanks!

I also got in 2 battery packs with my Blade 400-3D. We flew a total of 10 rounds with alot of props being remove do to some love taps. Thanks Pappy for the shade it helped as the sun got higher in the afternoon.

We flew 8 Fast & Furious rounds of combat at Hagerstown today with only 3 or 4 plane lost do to midairs. We had Dennis and his son flying the F&F planes for the first time and also Gary getting into the action with a couple of rounds.Dennis has 2 sons which I'm sure we will be seeing alot from them in the future. Thanks Carl for being the grill master today and supplying the goodies along with everyone else that supplied the lunch. We also got alot of hanger flying in with some heli flights by Willis and Ike giving us a good show. I even got in a 40 miunte flight with my Radiant.

August 13,2009 Update

I arrived at Dunkirk around 2:00 in the afternoon a little later Bill came in
and flew his Kadet which we had to dig out of a tree  down the road aways. Another story for later.I put my Radiant up for a 45 minute ride with just 2 power ups made.Pat came in and also flew it for 45 minute with just 1 power up, which would have lasted longer but we had some combat to take care of. Doug also flew his a couple of times and Mark got some hovering a some forward flight in on his heli.Back to combat now. We had 5 flyers show up to do some combat shorties. We got 5 rounds in with no planes making the 5 mintues on the last round. We had some love taps and pilots flying the wrong plane a couple of times which means more glue sticks will be used.We had to shut down early because we had 3 flyers on buddy cords flying on the field also.Did give 2 flyers from Hartford City a print for the F&F after he flew one of mine.
The scores are as follows:
Doug-30 points :) (ACE FOR THE DAY)
Pat-20 points
Dale-20 points
Mark-10 points
Danny-10 points
So for now watch your six.
