Why do Kyosho Seawind The Vic and Northwind 28 or 36 and others
do that goofy three lines with bowsies to a ring in the center of the
deck for line control of the main sail ???
why not a nice hole like the Fairwind and Nirvana others---?
( I think, I don't know fer sure)
I beleive most Odom s are with the hole setup

why, I ask u why? (feeling peckish today) thanx

It appears to me ( I have a Vic) that the main reason for that routing is to gain mechanical advantage. No matter, because it works and definitely keeps the water out.

For the record, I find that a certain kind of cord that I buy in a local sewing shoppe called "venetian blind cord" is the absolute best product for sheets. It is thin, strong, smooth, wear resistant, and extremely flexible.... It won't bind no matter how you route it.

thanks for the info ..."venetian blind cord" may look into it

no mechanical advantage with "ring on a string" vs a nice hole in deck
and a nice hole with minimal clearance would take all day to sink da boat.
so I'm left wondering if there is some kind of tuning trick that could be used ?

I and my sailing bud just pull all the strings tight and hold the ring in one place
center deck and close behind main boom connection point ...
what else would it be for ????

thanx

It's to seperate the attachment point of the sheet from the hatch underneath. That way the hatch can be held down with simple devices and not screwed in place. Also, the hatch can be completely removed and not be trapped on the sheet.

I tend to believe u dave ...But thats it ???
both the Vic and Seawind "could" have a hole and not be impacted..as u say
but having a fairwind I sure see the point...
but thats it ? aaarrrggghh
