Hello;
I was wondering if anyone had this problem with the Waco. I had alot of difficulty mounting the cabane struts to the mounts on the fuselage. I kept reviewing the manual to make sure I was doiing it right. It took alot of force and bending to get them into place. I ended up mounting the cabane struts to the wing first and then to the fuselage. It surprised me that the little screws held with so much force on the struts. Well, after setting all contols and COG I was ready for my first flight. After taxiing around to get a feel and a really nice lift off I noticed imediately,the plane was really squirrley and very tail heavy. I was able to land with pure luck in some tall grass and that cushioned the landing....no damage. What I did see was that both cabane strut mounts on the fuselage had come off and the top wing had no support
except for the N struts, whick are not that strong. It just seems to me that
they would have more support in the cabane strut mounts than just glue to the fuselage, considering the stress that is on the wing.
