morning off, sun bright, no wind,
off to park, first flight perfect
second flight stupid castle esc autodetects wrong number of cells and you gently nose in after light hand launch breaking the only prop you brought...
PRICELESS!
ok almost priceless

Ah, if it detected the wrong number of cells, why did you attempt to fly? Don't see where this is Castles fault.

second flight stupid castle esc autodetects wrong number of cells and you gently nose in after light hand launch breaking the only prop you brought...In auto mode the CC ESCs beep to tell you how many cells they detect. Believe it or not, but this audible beeping is being made for you to hear and listen to. If you cannot be bothered to listed and count the beeps then you should try manually setting the cutoff. You'll be hard pressed to find sympathy, just people that have done it too but realized they and not CC were to blame.

do you always sit and listen to the cell counting beeps? the voltage threshold should be able to know the difference between three and four cells. sure some of the blame is on myself im willing to admit that but castle should work on there software too. has the other problem with the noisy stutering start up been solved yet?

do you always sit and listen to the cell counting beepsEvery single time. If for some reason I have a doubt about the number of beeps I unplug the ESC and do it again. Then as part of my preflight checks I test the motor operation as well. I don't fly foam or ARF/RTF so you might say I have a lot of time invested in my planes and am paranoid about making sure they are ready to fly.

The beeps are your saftey net. I actually had a cell go bad in 1 5s brick and I caught it on startup in the plane.

I agree completly.
I think Castle should shoulder the blame expecting anyone to listen, think, or generally give a sh..., when they fly.
Why should I have to take the responsability to do anything but point and shoot when I fly.
I bet Castle wants me to do a range check too.
Now when are we getting the feature that puts the prop in reverse when the ground comes rushing up?
And then they have the nerve to charge money for these things too.
It just never ends.

Unless I am mistaken, if you have your throttle calibration set to auto, CC recommends running the motor up to full throttle momentarily to calibrate the end points of your throttle stick. Yet another safety net that would have caught YOUR error. They can't do everything for you. It's incumbent upon you to do a proper preflight check of ALL your equipment before you going tossing it in the air.
As for being reported, I think that was a little excessive on someone's part. But going to a vendor's forum, complaining about something that was really your fault, and then posting a link to another vendor's website for the same type product is disrespectful at best. You want to do that in the general forum, that's up to you, but doing it here was as uncalled for as you being reported for it.
Just my opinion!

Then I would buy 5 and be happy for the rest of my life.
I'm sure Hobby City will appreciate your posts on their site.

Hey, Ededge2002, how long have you had the new Hobby City ESC, my bet is you have not had them long enough to make your claim, I have been using Castle Creations ESC's since day one of my Electric Flying that would be before I became a member of RC Groups in I think 2003, and I have never had one fail to work as it should, You might revise your statistics a bit, a wise man once said there are lies, damn lies and statistics.

I love the courage that developes while hiding behind a keyboard.
Why would you quote a "wise man" when you have nothing in common with one?
