Hi all,
I bought three 2 meter sailplane wings for $10.00 at a sale. One is for a Gentle Lady one for a Sig Riser and the third is a flat bottom similar to the Gentle lady but with a different structure such as a D tube LE to tips ( I have no clue what glider it was for).
I have Gentle Lady with a modified wing so now I can switch back and forth.
Do the Riser and the Gentle lady have have the same incidence?
It might be fun to play with the flatter Riser wing. I have heard the lower polyhedral angled wings do not turn as easily.

anyone ever use multiple wing options for a glider?

I had thought about this but not as of yet got around to it.Lots of useful data can come out of this once the conditions of the test are set.First you need to find the control set up and start the numbers from there.Pick a wing for what you have and use that for the control, same pull on the high start, use a scale for the pull on the h/s then find near the same conditions at the field on the same day, make up a graph or chart to track the data and lets see what happens.Try to keep the conditions of the tests even as best you can.scottie.

If they fit, just try them. Incidence is not likely to be all that different. I suspect I'll get some flak for this, but whether the elevator lines up when the glider is in trim or not is more of an aesthetic issue than a performance issue. At least up to a point.

the AG foil is semi semetrical so a little shim of balsa to fit the fuse is simple enough when converting back to a flat bottom. my guess is both the GL and Riser are close
incedence.

Yep I've done this and it is a good idea. I got bored with my electrified Spirit 2m so I built a flat 1.8m wing with flapperons and a faster airfoil. I tinkered with the centre section ribs so when it rested on the fuse's flat wing platform the rest of the wing had the correct incidence. Powered by 4S 1100 A123's. Flys like a "warmliner" (though could use a more grunty motor).
All up cost was around NZ$70 (NZD's about 1/2 of the USD at the moment  ) - pretty good considering it is effectively a brand new plane... I haven't switched back to the 2m wing yet, though may do when we have our 2m competitions.

I've got a 25 year old Southern Sailplanes Ricochet for which I had three sets of wings (gotta a love a fiance who agrees that this is a suitable engagement present :D ). Approx 2m thermal wings which are fat bottomed sheeted foam D-box with half ribs and covering, the Unlimited which are 2.5-3m full foam sheeted wing with flaps and ailerons, and the slope wings which were also full foam sheeted with flaps and aileron only shorter and wider in chord.
All produced to fit the one fuselage, it was great being able to just switch wings when you wanted to fly different conditions. Sadly, it's was down to one and a half sets of wings but that has now changed as one of them has been repaired. I'm going to make another set of slope wings for it but with an updated section just to see how that goes.
I really like having multiple wings. I'm about to build another set of wings for my Graupner Albatross and I'll looking forward to seeing how it flies with a new wing section. cheapest way I know to get a whole new plane :)

I just stuck an Aspire wing on a 2M Cirrus fuse and it was like a marriage made for the air. Just flys great.. I'm pleased. Brian

I have a half dozen hand launch wings and only three fuses right now. I don't think my ratio of fuses to wings is ever 1:1.
Experimentation is allowed, encouraged, and rewarding.
