Just thought some of you guys might be interested to see the final hardware of my Flying Fox autopilot. It weighs 10g and is about the size of an ESC. It controls up to 10 servos and has heaps of expansion options.

I don't often log in here so sorry if I miss any replies.

Looks impressive, I'll have one!

PS: does it fly, and which features are on board?

does it fly, and which features are on board?

This hardware version is just new and hasn't flown yet but my previous version has flown (this is about my fifth version). It shouldn't take too long to get this latest one flying.

Features:

Plugs directly into any R/C receiver - up to nine control channels.
Can control up to ten servos.
Combined GPS/IR leveler board makes installation easy.
Barometric altimeter.
microSD card for flight plans and data storage.
Fully open source software. You can improve it or change it however you like.
Easily reprogrammed via USB with no need for a special programmer.
Powerful on-board flight scripting language.
Optional radio link to the ground.
Optional 9-axis IMU.
Many expansion options including I2C, SPI, etc.

By the way this is an open source project - not a commercial project - so please don't ask me for release dates or free samples!

Zik,thanks for your reply,

I didn't mean to be disrespectful by my comment, just making a hint that some more details about your project would be highly appreciated.

And, from the feature list, it seems to me that the Flying Fox will be big news, drawing lots of attention at this forum.

Congratulations with your achievements so far,

brakar

Wow, this looks fantastic.
Congrats Zik.

Just to repeat the encouragement, we'd love to hear about this project at DIYDrones. It's now a large community (about 5x this forum) and I don't think your AP has been introduced there. That fantastic picture of the board is a great start, along with the feature list and a link to the project site.

Hey Zik,
You're still at it. Awesome! That board looks great and that processor has a lot of support (i.e. going to be way easier to find IDE and tools and sample code for it).
Excellent work and THANK YOU! For keeping it open sourced [big thumbs up].
I want one now.

Zik-

Curious as to when you will start mass production and eventually selling these? If I missed an answer in a previous post, my apologies.

I've been following this project from its introduction here on RCGROUPS and will admit that this will be the first autopilot that I will give a try.

Looking forward to it!
