Pete,
The Akagi would make an interesting, but daunting project than what you've had with your existing CV. Its quite narrow & filled with bulkheads that would have to be cut & dealt with to allow RC. The photo etch needed to detail it to its proper level would drive any sane person nuts!
There's an excellent build on Modelshipwrights:

Haruna would be your best bet. Here's a kit review that contains a lot of photos for your reference:

At 1/350 scale,
The Carrier Akagi would be about 29 - 3/8" long.
The Battlecruiser Haruna, 25 - 3/8" long

Its a nice model the Akagi... but wholy molly there's gotta be 5lb of brass PE in there ...the scrap would be worth enough for a couple of sud's

Thanks for the input everybody. For the money I would have thought the models would be a lot bigger. However this is not the case so I assume the detail with the kits would account for the price. I'm having enough trouble R/Cing the Enterprise witout going on to a smaller model. Nice display models though. Pete
