Hello guys,

I'm new to the forum so I thought I'd introduce myself. My oldest son is just getting into RC aircraft so I have been on the aircraft side of the forum too.

I've built model boats for many years, I'm a bit of a steam enthusiast but have built electrics too. I have an idea for my next project, a steam turbine, but I have to wait to get my lathe installed in the garage.

Looking forward to talking to you all.

Thanks for the welcome.

The lathe is a Chester Model B, combined lathe mill/drill. I've had it for a couple of years over at my brothers place, it's finally coming home as my brother has bought a Harrison lathe and needs the space in his workshop. It will be good to have it up and running again.

Welcome aboard rockets.
There have been a few people looking for steam turbines on this forum lately.
Someone, Tony O, I think was looking for plans & info for the Turbinia. I intend to build one too at some stage.
So you may have a market here if you can build them easily & at a reasonable price. :D
Cheers.

Hello,

It's good to know that there are some steamies out there! Turbinia would be a great model, There are plans out there for the Parsons type turbines I think.

I'm also interested in Tesla's turbine, which uses discs instead of an impellor. These turbines rely on the boundary layer of the fluid, but consume high volumes of fluid so I would need to develop very efficient boilers.

Anyone out there with high production boiler designs?

It's good to be among kindred spirits.
