For us new-bees, what are the pros and cons of the standard FM radio -vs- the 2.4 GHz ? Looking to get my second radio and found this .

The #1 reason to get a 2.4 would be you do not have to worry about someone else being on the same channel as you . No more conflicts and you can run until your batteries die! :D

I bought my first 'new' 2.4ghz from 'another' supplier, and couldn't be happier with it :D :D
No more "Who's on channel 'whatever' ", and no more 'stuttering' from electrical noise!!
I was reluctant at first, after reading lot's of technical jargon, but I put batteries in the TX, and it did everything I wanted it to do, within seconds!!

But wait, there's more!
Not only does the 2.4 GHz protocol do away with "channels" and their conflicts, it's like PCM vs. PPM. Or essentially, digital vs. analog.
Basic FM is better than AM for noise rejection, as anyone who has driven under powerlines while listening to an AM set knows. But the most common FM sets (PPM) are still analog- they send out pulses, and the receiver has to measure the length of those pulses to read the code.
FM-PCM is true digital... it actually transmits a stream of numbers, basically (in binary), "this pulse is 1.34 milliseconds long"... which is received with much better clarity than an actual pulse. Like digital TV vs. analog.
You used to only get PCM in the highest-end FM radios... but now you get it on the even the cheapest 2.4 GHz set, and I think THAT'S progress.

Well said Patmat!!
Remember the old days when everyone (including me :o ) had CB radios, and our models (on 27mhz) used to go berserk every time someone 'keyed-up'....then came CB-SSB which made it worse, with all those linear amplifiers that folks had humming away under the dash or counter.
I remember reading a funny story in the newspaper once about a trucker who got dive-bombed and hit by an R/C plane, while pulled over on the side of the road and babbling on his CB while eating his lunch :D
Hmmmm...showing my age here :D :D

That is the same radio that the new Aquacraft UL-1 comes with...different label "Tactic". It is a great cheap radio but the UL-1 has no reverse so I don't know if that would work. I've been using mine several times a month since December without a hiccup.
