Model 151"ARES" Parflyer

Hi at all,
I show a new project,is Ares of Burt Rutan,its build all depron 6mm
the W.S. is 660mm
Length is 530 mm
Weigth is about 200gr ,without battery.
For this model I use a Emax CF2805 motor,whit 7X5 prop ,battery 2S 1300mAh
two servos ,the canard is fixed,use only aileron ,mix elevon.

Only chance I have had to see the Ares fly was in this video. It did apear at some local airshows in So Cal, but I never got to see it in person. This video is enough for me to beleive it will make a great pusher jet model!

Here is a fairly accurate 3-view of the Ares and a photo of the K&A models EDF kit.
Personally, I would love a Pusher prop version of this aircraft! Looking forward to the progress of this thread.

hmm in my opinion, there are many flaws to the overall design of the ares.
Were it up to me. I would have twin inlets for either single or dual turbine.
then i would mount 2 guns on the top or bottom of the nose and have them counter rotate. What even be better is to have the guns mounted on the wings, have them counter rotate, and have a program to sense target distance before adjusting the guns.

Then again those are my opinions.

The reason for the gun and engine inlet being on opposite sides of the plane is so that exhaust gasses from the gun don't enter the engine and cause a flameout. This is a real issue with the A-10 (same gun). When the trigger on an A-10 is depressed, an igniter (of some sort) is turned on in both engines, kind of like the glow plug heaters some modellers with large airplanes have that turns on when the throttle is below a certain point.

No, I did watch the vid but like I said those are only opinions. I know that the choices Mr. Rutan was fully considered before made.
