I am building the Top Flite P-51 Mustang Kit(60 Scale). I am using a Magnum RFS 120 (120/4 stroke). I want to use a pipe that I can conceal under the cowling that will exit on the bottom of the cowl. I am inverting th motor also so I can build as scale as possible with no cylinder heads, or pipes exposed on the side of the cowl.
Any sugestions on pipes (flexible if possible) that are compatable with a Magnum Engine. Exaust Thread size is M14 X 0.75
Thanks for the Help in advance

Matt,
Sounds like a good plan....I have had some major issues with the exhaust port threads in mine, (See thread) (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=953813) I think the main issue was that big muffler hanging off the end of the pipe. Might have had better luck doing it the way you plan to do it. That said, I have not found anything to fit the Magnum exhaust port. Good luck!

I have a solution. Another person sent me this link. It is an adaptor that turns the pipe 90 degrees and they have them for Magnum engines. I mounted the firewall today and lay the motor and mount on it. With this adaptor the pipe that comes with the 120 engine will pass throught the bottom of the cowl with no muffler. It will work fine.

I have this adapter on my Magnum 120 mounted in my CMP Hellcat. It is stronger and will allow the muffler to hang on the end of the pipe. You need to make sure you have enough room to make the turn with the pipe. Hellcat cowls are very large compared to a mustang.

The adapter you are showing in your previous link says you have to support the end of the muffler. Just FYI
Good Luck

I am going to just run a pipe with no muffler. Since this is a 4 stroke db will not be that bad and it give the plane a cleaner scale look. In my initial measurenments the pipe will stick out below the cowl. Thanks for the suggestion and link.
