I am working on my first giant scale electric. I am used to setting up 50cc gas planes, but I wanted to do something different. Just thought I would share my experience, just in case anyone was interested.

Sweet. I'll be watching this build.
I am interested in a "50cc" size yak myself. I am looking into the Extreme Flight 88" yak.
How do you find the build quality of the Hyperion? Can you compair it to any other planes in the 50cc class?
Thanks for showing us your build.

A few months ago one of my friends purchased a Hyperion extra 260 40e and a Hyperion chipmunk 70e. Right off the bat I was impressed with the quality from a kit that I had never heard. However, I was most impressed with the flight characteristics. His extra 260 flew like a much larger aircraft. Anyway, I was getting out of flying larger gas airplanes cause of the upkeep and maintenance. When I got the yak 180 I was pretty satisfied. There were a few broken parts due to shipping and they packaged the wrong motor set; all are being replaced free of charge. The aircraft is well built and similar to other more expensive aircraft that I have seen; just it is only for electric with a near impossible conversion to fuel if that is what you wanted. The only thing I would caution is the glue. It is a Chinese kit and they use that white glue stuff. I went around some stress points with epoxy and CA to be sure, but it is still much better than something you would get from Nitro Planes. Anyway, I should have another video out soon. My motor, canopy, and elevator half will be arriving this Wednesday.

Tor-Dk did a complete build thread on this one...you'll get plenty of useful info:

The model is excellent quality and goes together real easy. I had one (had a mid air collision) and it was awesome.

Thanks for the info. I've had a couple close calls too. Sorry to hear that.
