This thread is where I am going to post the PDF files of the various tailcone templates I have created. This way you do not have to search the build threads for them.

If you want to buy a roll of film for a lot of tubes you can here:

I use the .005" but you may want to consider the .0075" as it is a little stiffer.

For the HE-162 with 64mm EDF fan unit. You will probably have to tape two pieces of plastic together if using 8.5 x 11 sheets.

Great idea Don. Any chance of a thrust tube for the Alfa MiG15? The wings haven't fallen off in over 90 flights. Enough with the stress testing, it might be time to increase the speed a little (4800kV, Alfa 5 blade fan, 3S).

For the alfa fan unit you want a 1.8" exit diameter. I can make a template but need to know the length needed.

But I'm wondering if it's worth doing (or more improtantly, have I got my calculations all wrong :o). The stock thrust tube is 51mm (2.008") exit diameter, and if the reduced outlet comes down to 45.72mm (1.8"), this represents a reduction of only 2.64mm from the stock radius.

2.008" down to 1.800" means the area is now (1.8/2.008)^2 = .80 or 80% which is a huge change in outlet area. You can try a tapered tube of Depron but I would make it at least 100mm long.
Don
Thanks Don.
You're right - the reduced outlet is 80% of the stock area.
Might be easier if you could design a new tube. The stock tube tapers a fair bit, so putting a piece of depron 100mm long up there and keep it reasonably smooth would be quite a challenge.

Sorry did not mean to edit your post, the two buttons are right next to each other.

I wasn't going to mention it
You can make it up to me by sending me one of your replacement Alfa fan units :D
