yes please..
i need some of ur help..
im a student of aerospace engineer n as per our design project..we have to build a RC plane which should be able to fly 100 m in a stable manner wid a wingspan of 3 to 4 feet..
This should be an easy task for u guys since dis is ur hobby...but for me its somethng new n especially building from scratch since i havent played with wood much in my life....
can u gve me step by step advice on how to build a plane....some sort of building methods for dummies :P
i started with the ribs and hav done it..only thing i need 2 sandpaper them well.. (How important is it to sandpaper the ribs properly? do they affect the lift produced??)
any other advice which be appreciated..
Especially on Fuselage building since i hav 2 start building the fuselage sooon...

Thanks in advance..

Cheers!

Step 1: Never substitute the letters "th" with d if you want to be respected when you write things. ;)

Step 2: Research. Look around on this forum for build logs of various types of planes. You dont have to use balsa, you can use foam or composites, or probably even cardboard if you wanted. Look at planes that will have to do a similar mission as the on you will have to build.

Step 3: When you have done enough research, refine your question to something like, "I'm going to be making heavy lifter that will weigh about 10 pounds. Can I use rubber bands to hold the wing on?" You can learn a lot on this forum but we cant teach you to build on one thread.

As for the wing ribs and if they effect lift. I hope you are talking about small bumps on them because, yes the ribs do effect the lift very much, being in an aero class, you should know this. As long as they are the shape you want then they should be fine.
