I too was sad to find out yesterday that it had been cancelled. I went for the first time last year and was looking forward to going again this year.

that really really sucks big time!! i was so looking foward to getting out there again. i say we still throw together out own get-together in vegas. it'll still be a blast if we can get a good sized group to show up!! :)

Yep, that sucks. I e-mailed to ask if we could use the field if we all showed up anyway. We'll see what they say. Maybe w could plan it around the same time it is normally held. If they say no, maybe attend another event close there. Arizona electric fly in maybe????? Or maybe the First Annual RC Groups Parkjet Fun Fly??? :) Just my 2 cents.

I've been itchin' for Superfly VIII since the last day of Superfly VII. I'm in shock. We need to do something. I won't make it until 2010! If I can help to coordinate something (not that I have any particular contacts or skills), let me know.

i like J's idea of the First Annual RCGroups Parkjet Funfly!! i'm still planning on keeping that weekend free in my calendar incase some magic is worked up.

J, there is 0 grass at the AZ event. which is a bummer. we should do it in california some where..

I agree, ca. would be better. Shorter drive! :D Plus there's probably more fields available.

Well, I got an e-mail back from the Dave, he has been the chairman for last few years.
He has kept the field reserved on the same dates. However, no one stepped up to be chairman so they had to cancel it.
He is checking with AMA about the insurance and will get back to me later. So hold on to your hat, we may still have a sort of Superfly. Hell, I didn't go for the heli's anyway. :D

I just found out yesterday. Dang, we really had a blast at Superfly VII, and held our HP F-16 TOP SPEED CONTEST during the event. We were all ready to join in the fun again this year, and hold our Windrider F-35 TOP SPEED CONTEST at the event with even more participants than last year. Looks like we're gonna try to hold the Race Event at FEAR 2009 in AZ,

I assume your asking about FEAR 2009. Yes it's on Fri, Sat, Sun...Oct 2, 3, 4.

Hans, Corsair Nut and I will put our heads together and try to brainstorm a solution to the cancellation if we can't use the Vegas field. If not, then we need to find a place because I'm coming regardless. I don't care if it's Hawaii, I'm coming.

Well, the only reason we first gathered at Superfly is because it was convenient. They hardly knew what a parkjet was and now we have our own category. But it certainly doesn't take a "main event" for us to meet up and have fun. Might be even better being less crowded.

wow! didn't know that. but i used to live next to what used to be the murder capital of the states (East Palo Alto), so i guess i should be used to it :eek:

Yeah Superfly was great. The folks who are racing the F-35's will be at FEAR 2009, and some of them will make it to Vegas for the Electric weekend (on the old Superfly weekend) as well.
AZ is fairly close enough for you to attend both. :)

Hey guys, this may not be all in vain, what I am trying to say is my good friend in columbus, Ohio is having this year a three day all electric fly in July 10,11,12, and all electric jet, and foamie rally. Terry Nitsch is hosting the fly in" sound good to me and it isn't as far as Las Vegas give it some thought" besides 2010 isn't that far away.
