Can someone please help me identify they type of fitting on this boiler? I would like to plumb it properly.

I purchased the boiler used and it came with a single tube with a compression fitting on it, the type you need to flair out to get a good seal.

Oddly enough the tread on the fitting is .75 (metric), while the copper tube measures 3/16". I'm a bit confused. Anyone know where I could find these fittings? What is the best way to go about making the proper connections? There are 4 connections I need to make... one of the steam output, one for the exhaust and two for the super heater coil.

Thanks.

Everglades, welcome back! I recently ordered some 3/16" - 40 fittings from PM Research for my 34" steam launch re-power. Very good quality hardware, check out their inventory.

Thank you Peconic Steam.

I would like to try and use the existing fittings on the boiler in order to avoid having to solder on new ones. The thread appears to be .75 Metric. so I dont thing the 3/16"x40 SAE will work.

The boiler you have was made by Aster in Japan years ago, you might be able to get fittings from the Aster USA dealer Southern Steam Trains, they may be able to help you. A direct email will be required since this boiler is old and no longer made.

The placement of your pressure gauge may cause it to get damaged by the heat of the preburner, it is best to place it behind the front of the boiler away from the burner opening.

Looks like your building a river boat?

Thanks
Steve

I was hoping you would chime in Steve. You helped me last year identify the boiler and figure out how to ge it running.

Yes, the boat is a Dumas Myrtle Corey. I have just continued building it after a few months off. I will shortly update the original build thread with some progress.

I will contact the link you gave me and see if they have any fittings.

Cheers.
