So one of the big issues before was that the models weren't packed well for individual shipping... Imex only wanted to ship to retail stores, with multi-packs on a pallet, and the customer picks up the model.

Seems like they are willing to ship now! And they only charge $8.99 for shipping, see below... they can do that by selling for the MSRP instead of dealer's wholesale, I guess.

I hope the message on the "Store Policies" page isn't a bad omen!

Has anybody bought one of the Imex boats, or know of somebody that has?
Wonder what the quality is like, interested in big Coast Guard Boat, although its quite pricey at $599.

I bought a Typhoon last summer. Runs well I like it a lot. Leak-free even. Dunno how long the finish will last tho.

It freaks birds out when I run it slow they think it's a small gator or something. :D

Like a few have said, a complete lack of specs.
not even LOA.

There really is not enough information to even get me thinking about parting with one cent.

So if you are reading this Ozzie
I know you are busy selling boats, but my old dad said to me 'never buy a pig in a poke'. In other words don't buy what you have not seen.

If you give more informaiton on your website you may be able to sell more boats. So IMHO it would be worth the time and effort. Because I am sure I am not the only one who is holding back, and I am sure I will not be the last to hold back on a purchase either.

I've got the Smit rotterdam, I did not buy it directly from IMEX but that is what it is.
I had a few compliments on it, lots of detail.

The Typhoon looks pretty nice Hab!

I've had a chance to see Hab's boat and it is nicely made and performs well on the lake- a very good alternative to building (did I just say that??? :o ) Dumas' version... On the water years sooner and probably for the same amount of money (or less)

:) I thought I would answer the response the forum received from IMEX on the posting from M.A.C.K. Products, that we would no longer carry the ARTR and RTR boats advertised by IMEX. First of all we were given the bums rush at the WRAM Show of 2008 to sign up and place our order for their new boats. I was told then, and abided by the fact that I had to take a minimum number of boats to place an order, and that was not the problem, the problem was that of the boats ordered, only three of which were in stock ,only the ones in stock were shipped to me with the rest of the boats placed on back order. The problem comes when the boats that were out of stock do come in, they are not shipped as completion of the original order but part of a new order which again has to meet the minimum quantity. As for the shipping of all the boats to us by freight on a pallet, this was due to the fact that the packaging on a lot of the detailed models would not survive shipping through regular shipping companies such as FedEx and UPS. Following shipment to us, IMEX suggested that our customers come to us to pick up the models, since, again, they would not survive shipping through FedEx or UPS. THIS WAS TOLD TO US BY IMEX. I have no hard feelings toward IMEX and wish them well in their endeavors, but we stand by our decision to no longer carry IMEX Products and stated our reasons truthfully. I notice that they now sell direct to the consumer. One wonders how many other dealers ran in to the same problems M.A.C.K. Products did, and if they changed the packaging in order to ship through regular shipping companies?
:)

Good for MACK Products.
OK, what I've been holding back since I saw what they had at the Toledo show. I've never heard such lines of BS coming out of the mouths of any manufacturer of R/C products, these guys make used car salesmen look good! They did sell a lot of pool racers but what are you going to expect for $20.00?
My kid has been bugging me to buy one of those computer R/C flight simulators and they had one there super-cheap at $30.00, a show special so I bit. We got it home and Junior wanted ot try it out. I was busy on mine 'puter uploading shots from the show so he took it across the street for he and the neighbor to play with. He called me saying that they were having problem with it, all of the controls operated backwards! There is nothing in the program or on the TX for "servo reversing" which was what it needed. Right now I've got a piece of junk laying here and out of $30.00. Yes, the stupid thing did the same on this 'puter also.
The "salesman" also said that I could download 200 (yeah, right) more planes online for it. Oh yeah? Where? Their site sure as Hell doesn't have them!

OK, back to those things that float. Most of the scale ships were behind them but they has some gas Cat's right up front. These were the typical Chinese splashes that are unloaded on eBay. The "salesman" was telling prospective customers that his Cat would run 55 MPH all day long. I wanted so badly to call him out on it in front of everyone. It might do 35 down a greased mineshaft with a tailwind.
If they're at the show next year I ought to take that "simulator" back and smash it to pieces in front of their booth.

I would like to see more details on the models. On face value they look pretty good. I am a big fan of the USCG, and the Island Class looks very promising. But at $600 US (I'm in Australia, and it would cost me around $1000 AUD without postage) I would be very grateful to see a review of this IMEX model before parting with my hard earned $$.
