I'm expecting the Esky Honey Bee Mk 3 to be delivered today. It is my first non-coax heli. So, I am expecting to be making repairs and ordering replacement part. I only ordered new blades and heat sinks for the motors with the heli.

But I was looking at posts and adding up prices and wondering if I should just order a second complete Honey Bee vs. buying the common parts I might need?

Obviously I might break more than one of something, but at a certain point it might just be nice to have other to get another battery, motors, canopy, and possibly frame to moth. With free ground shipping it would be $89.95 to get a complete one.

Seem reasonable?

Rather does. There is nothing like the utility of being able to swap any one component to determine if one is bad. Also, it should always be possible to make one good one out of two bad ones, unless you break both hubs, booms, etc. Parts are cheaper bought as a unit than as single parts.

Get redundant blades, hubs, rotorset, links, skids. Those are the most frangible parts from what I've observed.

Stock up on a few flybars and ring-like push rods.

Naw, instead of the ring like pushrods, hit Lowes or some hardware store and use a DANCO #7 o - ring. I stuck a piece of stiff heat shrink on it and then gave it a 1/2 twist befoer installing and so fat it works like a charm. I still have one good one on there though.

I've seen the DANCO #7 o - ring mod, though not exactly sure what it does or replaces. But I am sure I will figure it out once I get the heli. And I also saw the post about strengthening parts with some CA infused thread.

See my thread titled "co-ax to fp transition". I am one week ahead of you on the HBFP. You may not need as many parts as you think. I am up to practicing tail right and tail left hovers and have only broken my flybar. It broke not because of a crash but because I over tightened the allen screw and cracked the carbon fiber. I am also on my second set of blades. Cracked one while "scooting" around the floor when it hit my motorcycle.

If I hadn't torqued the tiny screw like it was a lugnut and had moved the bike out of the garage, I would be at 0 replacement parts. search for "HBFP wiki" and in it there is a list of commonly broken parts. i bought all of the listed parts when I bought the heli. Cost around 20-30. So far used $7.00 of it.

Ahhhhh. I see the problem now.

I'm an idiot and can't read.

I'm expecting the Esky Honey Bee Mk 3 to be delivered today.

Which is a different beast entirely than the Honey Bee King 3. Which has "ring like push rods (http://www.rc711.com/shop/product_info.php?cPath=22_117&products_id=1673)" as well, which go between the swash and flybar, with the main blades through the "rings"...

A bit different than the HBFP o-ring mod (http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?p=9604924#post9604924)...

"You don't need to see his explanation. This isn't the mod you're looking for. Move along, move along."

That doesn't work for me. On my helis, all of the parts are commonly broken! :o

dont do the O ring mod, it makes the head too sloppy, you might not feel it when you are learning to hover but you will when you're actually flying....

the things you're going to break most are ring like pushrods, paddle control frames, flybars (just get some 2mm CF rod from the LHS and make your own), rotor heads, skids, and if you ding it just right, hubs. I have never broken a hub, but I've seen a lot of people lately breaking them.

After some of my actions over the years, I think i am "commonly broken".
