View Full Version : OT: Viruses
Are you all continually getting viruses emailed to you? I've got like three
now or something that has a lot of email addresses from this group in the
llist. I know some of you but anti-spam stuff in your address so you won't
get it, but I was wondering if anybody else is really getting these. The
one I got today said "RE: Look at the correction update from M$
Corporation". It had a file named "q362408.exe". It says that the sender
is Valmir Fonseca with the address vsfonseca@desktop.com.br .

Yes, I've recently received 2 or 3 e-mails w/ binary
attachments (deleted w/o checking them). One e-mail had
the subject line that you mentioned.
Did anyone check what virus was attached and what
it did? Was it a "nuisance" or "destructive" virus?

Housecall said it was a plant that would open a URL that you couldn't
close (a mouse trap-wont close or close one and opens three...ect).

Yeah, I know about all that. I'm running linux anyways, so it wouldn't be
able to do much to me :)

There is a worm going around, it reads your address book and your email
address and sends it self to everyone you email. and it sends your email
name as sender to a ton of people you do not even know...I get returned mail
all the time...but the recent Nortons update semmed to stop it..
