View Full Version : Sailing a Robbe Atlantis with the genoa

Has anybody done this? I've seen the ads as well as the occasional
owner photo, but:
I just finished the genoa (haven't done the roller-reefing setup yet)
and while running it in my living room, I watched it snag on
everything on deck while 'tacking'. I can reduce the snag points with
some careful wrapping, etc., but it still doesn't look like it will
work well - there's just too much stuff on deck.
Any tips/hints?

First of all: Sorry for my poor English.

Don't worry about.
In real life (RL) the same shit happens.
If this happens you will send one or two members of the crew to the
bow to clear up the genoa. That doesn't work on a model-boat.

1. Try to sail with as much speed as you can get.
Half wind should work good.
2. Roll in most of the genoa.
3. Turn to the other tack.
4. Roll out the genoa.
I think this method will work best.
Uhhhm, it works in RL.
Wether it works on model-ships i do not really know, sorry :-(
