Hi there
My LRP runner has a blown diode. Its connected across the + & - where these power cables meet the PCB (its across the power, not the motor output)
What type of power diode should I replace it with & is its purpose

I managed to connect up the batt in reverse on my new (old) car.
its a batt with banana connectors(why??) that I should have removed to stop this I guess
But the esc still fires up, will give it a full test tomorrow.

The diode, if I read this correctly, is there to prevent a reverse application of power to protect the equipment. It is meant to blow a fuse that's inline from the power supply which I'm guessing is not being used in your case, resulting in the diode being blown. Any diode with a current rating in excess of the fuse can be used to replace it.

If you charge at, say, a max of 5 amps, use a diode of 10 amps and a 7 or 8 amp fuse.

If you're NEVER AGAIN going to connect the power cables in reverse or use with an unfused power lead, you don't need to replace the diode.
However, I'd replace it with a 5 or 10 amp diode in case you do.
