BR2200,

I would look at something like an Axi 4130-20 turning about a 18X8 prop on 8S lipos with about an 80 amp controller.

This should yield something just over 200 watts per pound, for decent 3D performance.

If you don't have enough ground clearance for an 18 inch prop, then you could try a 16X10. If this is still too large, you could go to a lower wind motor such as the 4130-16, and run a smaller prop yet.

The Axi motors are kind of expensive, but are very robust and make decent power for their weight. There are many more good motors out there that cost less, and would serve just as well. I used the Axi as an example, just because they have been around a long time, are readily available, and are quite well known by many modelers.

Keep us posted on your project. I've long thought that the U-Can-Do should make an excellant E-conversion.

Best of Luck!
