Newbi needs stuffing box help

Hi people
I'm very happy to be a member of this site, Right now I'm working on a
Dumas Donzi z65 and I'm curious what the small tube coming out of the
shaft stuffing box housing is for. Can any one tell me and and what
kinda grease should I put in the shaft housing, :confused:

Without seeing a photo of it, I'm guess it could be an oiler tube?

I normally use marine bearing grease on my flex shafts. Although i
recent got a tub of stuff called Speed Lube off a mate and it is a bit
thicker than the bearing grease and sticks to the flex well.

My experience is with smaller electric boats, though I would assume the
small tube is for shaft lubrication. when I lube a shaft, I use a 1/2 cc
insulin syringe with the needle part removed to inject grease into the
stuffing box at the prop end. After hand lubing the shaft, I insert it into
the stuffing box. This insures that grease is fully distributed in the
stuffing box. I've never had a stuffing box water leak using this process.
If it were me, I would use the syringe to pump in grease through the small
tube as well as the prop end of the stuffing box.
As for the grease itself, I use a synthetic grease from Tower
