Tower is releasing a "system" which include the Tx and Rx and it is most likely identical to the Tactic that is already available but this one includes a Rx and so you save $5 on the combo.
Pretty amazing in my opinion, to get an anti-interference insurance policy like this for $80 bucks. And it has a lot of adjustability.
I know pistol grips are not for the complex scale boaters. But go fast boat guys, Springers, launches, cars, trucks, motorcycles, airboats, and even a sheetboater in our club uses a pistol grip.
All my 27 and 75 Mhz stuff is getting less crowded. :p

I like it... the ultimate K.I.S.S. controller.

Even though there is no antenna on the receiver, the range is great with no problems. We use them in our fast electrics.

See it's presently unavailable - let us know how it works - would be ideal to replace the old 27 two channels.

Anybody know if the Tactic receivers will work with the Tower 2.4Ghz transmitter?
If it looks like a duck and it quacks like a duck, is it a duck?

or d.i.y. make sure the 2.4ghz is water-friendly !
someone has modified futaba 2pl with corona 2.4ghz system, as per his information, corona is water-friendly compared to some brand like spektrum cant be run on water surface !

You all are going to love this. I sent an email to the tech dept at Tower Hobbies. I asked if the new Tower pistol grip 2.4 Ghz Tx was the same as the Tactic 2.4 pistol grip and asked if the Tactic receivers would work on the new Tower Tx. Here is their response.
"Unfortunately we have not received the Tower 2.4GHz radio's so we have not tried them with the Tactic receivers, if you check back with us at a later date we should be able to test this for you." :D :D
WHAT?

Received a notice from Tower Hobbies the Tower 224 2.4 ghz tx/rx combo has shipped. I will test out the compatibility with the Tactic tx/rx and report back here. ;)

Let us know - received the same notice now in stock. Looks like a good price to replace the old antiquated two channel ones.

I've been using the Tactic on my UL-1 hydro since Dec. It works great!
I also have a tower version receiver as a spare. My thoughts were that I could use the 2nd receiver in a 2nd boat, but haven't tried it cause I didn't want to adjust my transmitter inputs for a spare receiver. Now I'm thinking about trying it, but can't find instructions on how to bind it. The one that came with the boat was already bound.
I know transmitter adjustments (rudder) will need tweaked for each time I change a boat.
Will I have to rebind each time I switch receivers?

I see no problems for any sheet boats, including scale sail on two channels.
And like you say, for $80 bucks you cannot go wrong.

Just received my Tower Hobbies System 224 2.4Ghz Transmitter and Receiver. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then it must be a "****". It's a duck. :D
The Tower version is identical and nothing more than a rebranding. Both Transmitters can be bound to either Receiver. The Tower version has a housing for 4ea AA batteries to power the receiver through an on/off switch for the nitro guys. The Tower manual is excellent.
