Thanks, definitely good to know! About how often do the wheel bearings or gears
need silicone, if at all?
Also, lately my touring car sometimes does not move when I accelerate it, and I
believe it's because the clutch is worn. I had a site before that told what to
do, something with sandpaper. Just wondering if you have a good site that
troubleshoots this..
TIA all! And thanks Brad!

Erm... silicone's not a lubricant. Gears should be run either dry or
maybe with a light grease (?moly based?); bearings should be lubed with
a thin oil; on my off-roader, I use 3-in-1 which I apply after cleaning
the bearings, about every three or four meetings depending on how dirty
they get.
Keep silicone-based greases and oils for diffs and dampers.

I've been trying Spray-Silicone surface lubricant on my metal-shielded
bearings for a couple of months to good effect. It's dry, and doesn't
attract near as much dirt and dust as electric motor bushing oil. I have no
idea if it's an advantage over running them dry, though. Slowly, as they
wear out, they are being replaced by a new set of Dynamite Red Seals.
