Heya, saving Pikes point airpark in auckland as a recreational aviation area requires your help. Please sign up as a supporter, doesnt cost any $, just your name and email address.

Not only is this going to be a massive benefit to recreational aviation in aucklands future, but also has big implications for flying RC at the location.

Thanks, Chris

On 10th March Ken Buckley forwarded the email below to NZMAA members. A
question was raised and answered in relation to it, but the response
rate has been rather below expectations. Perhaps a bit of further
explanation will help.

Auckland Recreational Airparks Trust was formed in 2005 around the time
Roskill Modellers, ARMAC (Auckland Regional Microlight Aircraft Club)
and the Sport Aircraft Association (Auckland Chapter) were evicted from
Pikes Point, an area of land in central Akl used as an airpark by the
three clubs. It is a registered charitable trust, having jumped through
all the required hoops. The three main objects are aviation, recreation
and education. The underlying objective is the provision of facilities
for all sorts of aviation related activity, including model aircraft.

The trust has been working hard to secure operating venues but with
little success to date. However negotiations have been going on behind
the scenes and the next few weeks will most likely bring a public
announcement of great significance to R/C model aircraft enthusiasts in
the Akl region. Modellers will be the beneficiaries of a lot of work by
fellow aviation enthusiats who just happen to work in the 12in = 1ft
scale range.

But now, to aid in a push for the retention of Pikes Point in public
ownership, we need the assistance of every aviation enthusiast we can
muster, and that includes modellers. Linked to our web site there is a
Supporters Group. While it is just a list of names and email addresses
it is evidence of public support for our submissions to Councils and
Government. And numbers are everything in politics. So please take two
minutes (or less) to visit out web site at www.airparkstrust.org.nz and
join the group. It's free, quick, easy, and will help your fellow aviators.

And for Mainlanders and any others who may write this off as just
another Jafa idea to be ignored and left north of the Bombay Hills, I
would comment that Trust Chairman Brian Wigley hails from Timaru while I
was sourced a few miles further SW in Kurow, so we speak fluent Mainland.

So please, get a round tuit and sign up. We really do need every
supporter we can muster.

Thanks and regards
Gordon Sanders
